Dance therapy is founded on the principle that a vital connection exists
between body and mind and within a therapeutic setting it can become a
creative and transformational experience which initiates a healing process.

Movement as a means of authentic and symbolic expression emerges when the
individual develops a deep, self-sensing awareness – an attitude of inner
listening or mindfulness. Movement charged by an active imagination allows
the unconscious to flow into a physical form. Dance therapy can thus improve
relationship competencies by teaching good body communication skills as well
as providing an opportunity to create a visual vocabulary, which transforms
inner mental thoughts from implicit to explicit.

Our two day workshop is a ritualistic journey in which we shall dance the
body alive, heal the soul and nurture the sacred fire which burns within.
The experience will take place in a secure space, an emotional and affective
container in which the group members will experiment a sense of inner
healing and well-being. No prior knowledge of dance is required, only a
healthy disposition. Participants are asked to wear comfortable clothing and
dance in bare feet.

Leandra Perrotta is an Italo-Australian Clinical Psychologist, Dance
therapist and Jungian Psychodramatist. She is Contract Professor at the
University of Valle D’Aosta. She has lead groups in Italy, England,
Scotland, Brazil, Argentina, Slovenia, Croatia, Serbia, Portugal, France,
Spain and Turkey.

This workshop will happen at Hotel Riviera, Carcavelos, from 9.30 until
17.30 and the price will be 120 euros (for students 100 euros).
